Last year was unexpectedly spent mostly helping other people to write (and act in and direct) plays, for the Stromness Plays festival I organised. it was so much fun - especially getting to do some directing. Hooray for amateur theatre when things in the professional theatre world are still looking pretty bleak from where I'm standing.

Lots has been happening on the translation front though, and my latest translation will be out at the end of the month:

It's by the writer of the Desert and the Drum, which I translated in 2018. I think it's an even better novel than that one - a really compelling insight into Mauritania. Please check it out, review it, support independent publishing and translated fiction, etc.!

Later in the year, you'll get to read the translation I'm immersed in just now, which is very special, from a country you probably haven't read anything from, and which I'm now dying to visit...
